Quirky. Seems to be a satire about the Seattle area and the way residents think and act.

This is one of those books you dip into periodically. Since I borrowed it from a library, I haven't seen it for a while.
It reviews albums from about 1955- 2012 (if memory serves.) Included are artists I knew nothing about, and a few who I want to listen to and needed a starting point leading me on.
You may not agree with the writer(s) choices, but You will be happy to see albums you do know and love included here.

I've moved this to 'unfinished.' I'm in no hurry to return to it, as the time in history during which it is set is earlier than I'd expected, and there was too much detail for me about people in which I did not become more curious.

This was shelved as a Romance in my current library! It seems that I read romances now?! (???)

When I moved states, I returned this to the library unread. It will return to my 'to-read' list.

I have reborrowed this book and will start it again and complete it this time. :-)

The writing itself isn't at the highest level, but the story is intriguing and I'm motivated to read in spare moments. I keep thinking that this will be a science fiction....?

I've put this down & am (slowly) reading something else.

I'm 'reading' this because it is set in Seattle. Long ago, before I lived here, I read some mysteries set here which I enjoyed. So far, I don't care much for the main character nor the writing.

I'm not thrilled with this book so far. - These days I've been watching films more than reading. I just saw 'Les Miserables,' which was fine as character studies. I remember the book as being 200-300 pages spent in the sewers, though. That's when I became turned off. So. It had a 'happy' ending. - 'Anna Karenina' was hard for me to follow at first. At least there are characters other than Anna & Vronsky to follow.

Lists recommendations for reading based on places (mostly.) Something to dip into, rather than read straight through. Some suggestions have been given to Librarian Pearl by other readers, so some of her brief comments may sound off base.

I shall return to this later.

There are five parts and I finished the first one. They have traveled through the desert to Masada. -- I've returned the book to the library and will either borrow it again, or borrow it on CD. -- Although the subject is interesting (Jewish woman in 70 to 73 C.E.) and the narrative is easy to read, I didn't feel invested in the characters and the story,

I'm not sure why this was on my library 'to read' list, but I thought it was time to check it out. I'll read a few more of the short stories/essays, but I doubt that I'll finish the book.
