Everything about this book strikes me as not quite right... both in story and execution. It's supposed to be satire, but it's not accurate enough to be funny except in rare moments.

Another book about writers and writing... sigh.

A book about books that tries way to hard to prove itself.

I don't know why I read American novels. This is an especially unwelcome follow-up to Into The Blue. It also has a Secret History vibe, which I loathed.

I have no idea what this book is trying to do.

For a book about the love of comedy... it's not funny at all! Especially read by Julia Whalen.

The book is nicely paced and yet not verify enjoyable. I can't wait for it to end. It feels like a waste of time.

Feels like the book sort of wants to be feminist but instead fails and reproduces a bunch of internalized misogyny instead.

I think it's hard to do Handmaid's Tale genre well. But I like this so far because the women are educated and saucy.

Existentialism goes on the silly train.

I can't decide if I want to keep reading this. It gets depressing and skeezy, but then it perks up and gets interesting... then drops off again, and I just don't know if I care enough to proceed.

So incredibly philosophically vapid. And soooooooo long. I assume it's setting up for an interesting unpacking. But will it be worth it? Right now it's very annoying.

I usually avoid WWII fiction like the plague, but this is 🔥.

Not loving this. It feels like the most banal of modern fiction. I want it to be weirder. It's also very long, so will it be worth it? It has a Blake Crouch vibe. But if it doesn't get more interesting, I might not spend the time on it.

Putting this aside for now because my loan is due. It's ok. Maybe will try again if I decide to push forward with the series.
