Long, detailed and, at times, too gory.

I was given this book, along with a limited edition and pre-finalized for publication copy of Your War My War. The person that gave it to me was in Vietnam with the author as well as both worked at the VA in Indy, where I work. Very good book of short stories (sea stories). Many are funny but also show the seriousness of what it means to defend out country.

Very interesting insights into a mercenary that's not one anymore helping a community deal with a hidden cancer in town only brought to light when a girl kills a leader of the terrorizers. Some knowledge of French helps in a few spots so listening to the book can be challenging but only for maybe 15-20 lines.

Supposedly the last book by Donald Westlake before he died but the book takes place in the late 70's. So far decent but not a Dortmunder book.
