These poems are so disgusting and pointless; having a hard time forcing myself to finish.

Whoa, this is much stranger than I remember it being as a kid.

Oops, I mixed up the names of Addie LaRue and Henrietta Lacks somehow. This is a trashy novel. Did not finish.

This book does have basic common sense advice for how not to be an a**hole. It’s all really obvious though.

This writing is goofy. It’s basically a harlequin romance novel. Oops.

This is pretty inane.

Oh my goodness. This woman is making constant and petty little digs against her daughter throughout the book. Did she really need to mention she out-scored her on a practice ACT when Tara was a child? This woman is so self-righteous and petty.

So far she has spent the whole book praising herself and now she is QUOTING HERSELF in the margins as if she overheard a sage uttering wise remarks!

I’ve only read the introduction and the first page and already it is clear that this woman is a narcissist. “There are certain aspects of my life that, while ordinary and easily understood by me, may seem unusual or confusing to you, the reader.” Come again?

I am reading this book because I identify so much with Tara Westover and I knew this book would shed more light on her. It does. This woman is insane.

I love Obama, but this man does not know how to summarize.

I’m really enjoying the in depth details about Obama’s memories of key events in his campaign. It’s a very personal look into an experience that few have ever had. One thing I would have liked to see included in the book is the full text of his speeches. He describes the setting and the lead up and the gist of a lot of his speeches, and I remember them for the most part, but I would have liked to read them too.

I’m really hoping there is a development in the plot at some point. Thus far all that has happened is that we get to see what great kids the disabled protagonist and her disabled friends are. Nothing is happening...:

I’ve been listening to this as an audio book on a long road trip and spent a lot of time breaking into tears- it’s a beautiful expression of love.

Hmmm this is way more self-helpier than I had anticipated. Something about his tone rubs me the wrong way. It's vaguely condescending. A lot of the anecdotes are self-important.

I've only gotten a chapter into the book and it's the most terrifying thing I've ever read.

I'm really hoping I'm not rolling my eyes this hard for the whole book. Who is Seth and why does he keep getting randomly quoted and why doesn't he have a last name?

I didn't realize this was a YA novel before reading but am glad to be previewing it for my 9 year old- I think she will love it.

I think I might have enjoyed this more when I was in college. Seems too contrived now; he's trying too hard to make something out of nothing. Dreary.

I'm listening to the author read this on Audible and I can't stand her narration style. Hoping I can get past the fact that she emphasizes ev-e-ry syll-a-ble.

It's almost precious how opposed good and evil are to one another in Milton's imagination.

The gods' passions are as educated as a two year old's, while their power to punish is extraordinary. Thankful this is fiction.

So far I've learned a lot about a marble chair with a hole in the seat that is used for verifying that the pope is well-hung.

Just getting back into this after putting it down for awhile. I feel a kindred here.
