Sheila is on page 94 of 159 of Race Matters
For the first time in my life, I have finally seen someone else acknowledge the parallels between such political subsidy programs as affirmative action, FHA, and GI Bill. And I am finally no longer alone in the relative conclusions I've been drawing for a decade.

Sheila
Sheila is on page 95 of 337 of Galileo's Middle Finger: Heretics, Activists, and the Search for Justice in Science
So far, there's been about 1/3 chapters of incredible information; the remainder has been nothing but finger pointing and mudslinging. While the title fits, this book might be better marketed as a detective novel.

Sheila is on page 215 of 383 of Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal
Should be high school required reading -the new home economics cooking class would do well to educate the students on these matters, as well as social studies.

As necessary reading as To Kill A Mockingbird. Angelou has an uncanny, beautiful ability to express an oft-ugly world through the verbals of a child discovering their world. Loved it.

Always wanted to read something by Maya Angelou; certainly no disappointment.

Not interesting, yet; well the science about the ozone layer is interesting -the rest I cannot maintain any interest.

Sheila is finished with Starting Out in the Evening
The book was rather real in that there was no climax at all; therefore, I feel rather anticlimactic in review. What I did enjoy were the varied perspectives. The characters were very separate and true.

Much data to digest; however, my experience w/MRAs suggests it's required. Concluding statement, "Only when life-cycle theorists divide their attention and begin to live with women as they have with men will their vision encompass the experience of both sexes and their theories become correspondingly more fertile," nails it: if your research doesn't include me, it cannot define me.

Sheila is finished with When Men Batter Women: New Insights into Ending Abusive Relationships
This book helped me get out. Enough said, really. The reason is because it acknowledges abuse as not just physical, but emotional, and financial. In order to leave, victims often don't have the self-validation needed. This book provided me that necessary understanding.

So far, so good. This will be a slow- process read so I can soak up and process the info being presented.

I've never been so in love with the language a writer uses as in this book. As a linguist, I was gripped in the first chapter, and brought to overwhelming years in the second and third -not so much due to the events, but due to the way the events are told -pulling the soul through the words. Beautiful writing.

I'm only on page ten and already hooked. As a linguist, this story could be horrible but I'd still love it for the ingenuity of language alone.

Sheila is on page 77 of 361 of Man and Boy (Harry Silver, #1)
I like the simplistic honesty of the main character so far. There's little backpedaling and apologetics, which is a nice change from the ways writers torment us at times with their philosophical jargon.

I read a review that illustrated how whitewashed it is, so hopefully I'm going in with eyes wide open, but also with enough fair play to appreciate the writing style and story as well. We shall see.

Little annoyed that goodreads doesn't have my pub logged; it's circa 1891 by Besant and James Rice.
