I can’t do it. I can’t finish it. Even with it being our book club book.

I feel hints of Mayan legends, things that remind me of other Mexican books and… hades with Persephone. The later was finally mentioned.

We get warnings when books are abridged… need warnings for when it’s blog post collections so I can avoid it.

Wonderful. Probably not supposed to leave me in tears.

The parent and guilt piece is important but the example isn’t great. Restrictive dietitian isn’t appropriate. Look at Ellen Sater Division of feeding responsibility.

This has progressed from a 2 ⭐️ with a not recommended. Pick something else. No likeable characters. I can’t of anyone I would recommend this to. It is now a matter of whether there is less that 1 ⭐️ in this system? STAY AWAY. This is horrible.

Looking for formula thriller after a well written historical coming of age. But this might be beyond vacation read. I might not be right audience as Nirvana was just described as angsty classic.

Hard to pause and start up as this is the same narrator as for the Orphan X series that I’m listening to in the car. To me this is Evan Smok’s voice.

Fasting helps us develop mastery over the competing voices in our heads that urge us toward more, toward indulgence, toward emotional volatility.

Money and stuff have the power to ruin us.

If a fast doesn’t include any sacrifices, then it’s not a fast. The discomfort is where the magic happens.

Finally that makes this book stand out from others in the voice of dealing with our culture of excess. I wasn’t seeing how this book added anything and I wasn’t able to relate to the author… but now I get it.

This is incredibly good. Sadly have to return to library.

This is so fabulous. I don’t usually prefer to re-read books but this one is worth it.
