i realized..that a man who had lived only one day could easily live for a hundred years in prison

i hadn’t understood how days could be both long and short at the same time: long to live through..but so drawn out that they ended up flowing into one another..only “yesterday” and “tomorrow” still had any meaning for me

i had this stupid urge to cry, because i could feel how much all these people hated me

life creates order but order does not create life

at the moment in time the bargee bore no resemblance to any label. it was what was inside that counted. the human leaven. he was quite simply a friend. and we were in harmony

families who continue to keep a place at the table for someone who has died. they deny the irreparable…the dead should be treated as dead.

they make the dead into missing persons for eternity, into guests who will forever be late. they barter mourning for a hollow expectation. and a wretchedness far more stifling than grief.

he will never again be present, but nor will be ever be absent…a dear friend

one only ever understands what one tames. people no longer have the time to understand anything.

the object of persecution is persecution. the object of torture is torture. the object of power is power.

we control matter because we control the mind. reality is inside the skulls

he had understood…weighed it all and it made no difference: all was justified by the ultimate purpose. what can you do…against the lunatic who is more intelligent than yourself, who gives your abutments a fair hearing and simply persists in his lunacy?

where does the past exist…in records…in human memories…how can you stop people remembering things…it is involuntary, outside oneself

you believe reality is something objective, existing in its own right…reality is not external. reality exists in the human mind and nowhere else. not in the individual mind…only in the mind of the party, which is collective and immortal
