"A square of filthy, wrinkled cloth. Nothing more. And yet it was everything" (Lowry 209). This is an important quote because it shows the moment when Kira finds blue fabric. This explains the title and is significant because she has been trying to make blue threads throughout the book. This is also just an eloquent quote, it shows the symbolism and simplicity of the gift.

"...you/are every hope I ever ha/ in human form" (Kaur 49). I loved this quote as well. The figurative language is phenomenal, and I think the deeper message behind it is lovely, she's talking to this person, saying she loves them because they are all she ever wanted and are everything she needs.

"every revolution /starts and ends/ with his lips" (Kaur 48). I chose this quote because I loved this poem and it caught my eye. I think it showed that who ever she is talking about changed her world. It is also just a beautiful passage.

"There be no beasts" (Lowry 110). I chose this quote because I think it shows a pivotal moment in the story. I think it is beginning to show the strangeness and lies that Kira's society has been demonstrating. I think that this will lead to a discovery of something in the government.

"Enter the world refreshed by the hope/emitted by each atom of light,/ by the bird who mush sing at the sight/ of the sun..." (Cofer 10). I loved this line of this poem. The whole thing was really amazing but this line caught my eye. I think that it is just lovely, and captures the essence of first light and dawn spectacularly.

"What I realize now is that she needed me just as badly as I needed her" (Le Guin 59). This shows the connection between Natalie and Owen and how they both needed someone. I think this shows how they balance each other out.

"The sky was completely clear and very bright; the Pacific was dark blue with high white breakers coming in fast" (Le Guin 61). I liked this quote because of the imagery used to describe the coast and the ocean and how it all looked to Natalie and Owen. I think the author used excellent description in here to make the scene really pop.

"Augustus, an unlit cigarette in his mouth, his smile deliciously crooked, holds the mostly empty pink egg carton above his head. His other and is draped around Isaac's, whose sunglasses are turned not quite towards the camera. Behind them, egg yolks drip down the windshield and bumper of the green Firebird. And behind that, a door is opening" (Green 228-229). The great description helps me imagine the quote so well!

"Fear was always a part of life for the people. Because of fear, they built shelter and found food and grew things. For the same reasons, weapons were stored, waiting" (Lowry 3). I think this quote shows the deeper meaning of fear to people. It shows how it is a propelling force of life and is as primitive as the need for survival.

"Sports are neat to do, but dull to talk about." I just liked this quote. I just started this book, and I think it's good so far. I think this quote is revealing a little piece of Owen's personality, and it shows the way his mind works with his matter-of-fact tone.

"Dad always told me that you can judge people by the way they treat waiters and assistance. By this measure, Peter Van Houten was possibly the world's douchiest douche." I thought this quote was a funny way of describing Peter Van Houten and his impression on people. He doesn't sound very likable by these standards!

"Augustus and I were together in the Improbable Creatures Club: us and duck-billed platypuses" (Green 182). I liked this quote because of they way Hazel described her and Gus. They would both be improbable because Gus beat cancer and Hazel is battling it, and they would seem improbable to the public due to their physical appearances; like how a platypus is different from every other animal, so are they.

"'I don't ever want to do that to you,' I told him. 'Oh, I wouldn't mind, Hazel Grace. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you'" (Green 176). This quote shows how much Augustus cares about Hazel, and it shows her resistance. She is nervous about getting close to him because she doesn't want to hurt him. This may be foreshadowing for something bad to come.
