I’m freaking out, some of these stories that Alexie wrote at 19 are better than anything I’ve read in years. I remember reading This is What it Means to Say Phoenix Arizona in a high school English class and watching smoke signals, and all I really remember is the scene when they drive backwards down the road and the way Thomas says “heyyy victor”. Anyway, this book slaps.

Best author introduction I’ve ever read tbh.

I thought I didn’t like Sally Rooney but I’m really enjoying this and also it’s… dare I say.. pretty hot

This is like a more accessible house of leaves and I am here for it

I don’t even know how I feel about the rest of this book but the last chapter blew me away

Absolutely hate the way this is written and read but I will be continuing on bc I’m not at the whale part yet and also I’ve been on the wait list for this book for like six months.

Woah, did you guys know that reading novels is fun?

I listened to an hour of the audiobook until she flew home to be with her parents and decided this book was going to be incredibly sad and triggering and now is not the time to read it.

Super beautiful writing and story though, maybe some day..

DNF- audiobook expired and I was like- “meh”

DNF- had to return to the library and didn’t care enough to renew it. This book was okay but the protagonist really annoyed me even though I think that’s kind of the point. Over identification with something “quirky” to create identity for yourself as a teenager maybe hits to close to home for me
