I am very excited for this.

Mostly this is just making me wish I could watch Hocus Pocus instead of reading a middle grade novelization, but I'm away from my xbox and I don't remember my brother's Disney Plus password so I guess I'll keep reading until I go home.

This is going to be a 4 or 5 star but boy is it hard to read. I'm probably going to put it away until my vacation is over because I read like 5 pages then spend an hour staring at the floor and those are not the vibes I am going for this week.

I KNEW one of the narrators sounded familiar but today I was finally able to confirm her identity and she's the narrator for Hench by Natalie Walschots which is one of the BEST audiobook experiences I've ever had.

IT'S HAPPENING

This is one of my favorite book covers of all time, I'm so excited.

I can already tell I'm kind of going to hate this, because it's another story of a man being told through the perspective of a woman in his life while depriving her of agency, but we'll give it the old college try.

"Periodically, the mother embraces her young in a tender, furry hug that prompts the human observer to think 'awwwh.' Sometimes these mother-young bouts go on for about five minutes or more before the kangaroos return to being animals and the observers return to being scientists." 🥺

I finally feel up to finishing this one and i can't find my copy. Go figure.

Well the app im using to read Wheel Of Time keeps crashing this morning so I guess I'm starting a paperback with my coffee ❤

I'm angry about how invested I am in these rich people problems.

So far this book is just about a millenial with tons of student debt and a job she hates finding out she's secretly a millionaire, telling off her controlling mom, and travelling the world with her bff. I don't event WANT it to get magical at this point, i just want to ride out this wild fantasy.

Honestly this is pretty trash but I'm gonna see how far I can get in it.

This is definitely a slow burn. I'm like 4 hours.in and barely anything has happened.

I'm listening to the audiobook read by the author and the impressions and accents are....awkward. Especially in a nonfiction work where you know they're real people.

I don't really bother with classics anymore because I have issues with the whole system but someone gave me some books, I have this whole week off, and what's more cozy and Christmassy than some Dickens orphans?

I kind of want to be Frances Welty when I grow up?

Apparently about 40% of this book is appendices. Still good tho

The whole "but I cant believe a WOMAN would be cruel to another woman!" thing is less stark and weird in her historical fiction. It also feels like a very clumsy and intentional misdirect. It's definitely been mentioned way too many times at this point in the book. I'm enjoying the atmospheric spookiness of the book though, a very good October read.
