Michael Hall is on page 209 of 1152 of Cryptonomicon
I've looked forward to reading the Cryptonomicon again, yet this book is too big to take to the bar! It deserves more than than the 5 star rating that I'm eventually going to bestow upon it.

Some guy at the bar offered me $20 for this book so he'd have something to read on his flight the next day. I'm not going to buy this one again but will keep an eye out for it at the library.

Midway through this book I see to have misplaced it, at a bar... or quite possibly a refrigerator.

I think I've figured out this China Miéville dude now. First is his drive to stay away from typical commercial idioms and tropes. Young people read his works and come across ideas and words that they've never experienced before and think he's hip and edgy and imaginative. Older readers see much of it as gimmick, but with just enough of a twist to make you interested in where it's going.

Finally! A writer who exposes the psyche of the computer nerd, in great detail, and gets it right -- none of that simple minded Hollywood hacker bs!

Boring... reads like a summary for readers who don't like to think. This is one of the few times in which I'm feeling that the movie was better...

Despite all of the cool keywords about Miéville such as: intelligent, brainy, "weird concepts", complex, abstract, "twisted plot", etc.; I'm finding this book to be boring despite the gimmick that makes up the bulk of the conflict... I get the impression that this is an author who uses an extensive vocabulary and too many words to say a lot about little. Not much substance here...

Slow going, but it seems like the tedious (idle dialogue) parts have passed. Now I want to know what happens!

While interesting this book is a slow read due to the wandering and complicated dialogue filled social and metaphysical musings...

I had forgotten just how poetically descriptive Connolly was. You don't just envision his scenes, you feel them.

Michael Hall is reading Starship Troopers
Having read this in my childhood I already know this as the controversial war-is-hell tale that it is. It was a war protest story, unlike the movie which glorified and reveled in the violence of war.

This book is annoying! It's like a collection of post it notes that's 1/3 story and 2/3 autobiography.
