Beth is 40% done with Revelations of the Aramaic Jesus: The Hidden Teachings on Life and Death (Wisdom of the Aramaic Jesus)
I'm in a Bible study we were discussing the Beatitudes as the author describes them. Am enjoying sharing various English translations plus the Aramaic back dash translation with others and reflecting on them.

Beth
Beth is reading The History of Sound
Author is a gifted writer, but some stories, mostly the ones with contemporary settings, characters in plots that didn't appeal to me. I enjoyed several of the historical stories, including the first one. Nice to have a sitting in New England instead of be more common major city or southern US. Recommended if you like realistic, historical or contemporary fiction

Beth is 35% done with The Undiscovered Self: With Symbols and the Interpretation of Dreams (New in Paper) by C. G. Jung (Oct 25 2010)
Jung seems rather fixated on communism, but that was the major sociopolitical issue of the 1950s. I don't agree with everything he says, but I have a different society, education, and a perspective 70+ years newer than his. Curious about this next chapter on self knowledge. I did skip chapter 4 because it wasn't getting my interest.

Beth
Beth is reading All Boys Aren’t Blue
Excellent window into the life of a young gay Black boy and man/nonbinary person. Nothing is left out:
the ups and downs, but most of all the love and acceptance of a close-knit Black family
Struggles of puberty, sexuality, and (content warnings) sexual activity & abuse.
School life all that being both black and gay brings into it
The damage white privilege does (content warning for conservative snowflakes)

Beth is reading A Wizard of Earthsea: A Graphic Novel (The Books of Earthsea)
A beautiful adaptation of this classic, with most wirds chosen verbatim from the original and art that brings one into Earthsea and close to its people. A future award winner, I am sure.

Beth is 66% done with Thousand Autumns: Qian Qiu (Novel), Vol. 1
This was pretty well written with some interesting characters, but I just got so fed up with one of them and wanted to kick his arrogance backside across every one of the ancient Chinese countries mentioned in this story.

Beth is on page 400 of 512 of Gray Matters: A Biography of Brain Surgery
This is an excellent, wonderfully detailed (if you enjoy neurological and brain science and know a little about it), & engagingly written book! I ran out of renewals of my library copy, but I will pick it up again soon and finish it.

Beth is reading Guardian: Zhen Hun (Novel) Vol. 3
An enjoyable if occasionally confusing conclusion. Intense, sprawling, sometimes spicy, often funny danmei.

Mostly fascinating. I skipped much of the chapter on post-death housecleaning having read about it in another book and I found the cleaner somewhat unlikeable.

Beth is 52% done with A Desolation Called Peace (Teixcalaan, #2)
This is really good, but it's so complex that it's a slow read. Also I'm usually in the mood for something lighter but this is too good to give up or set aside for later.
