Not what I expected at all- although I learned a lot about eels! I cried over Stellar’s sea cows and considered resurrection and faith as a function of time and development. Really a beautiful, beautiful book. I love Rachel Carson, and read Silent Spring a few summers ago. Of course, she would have something to say about eels. Connection to family, mystery and science makes this a profound read. Loved it.
