Okay, NOW things are beginning to pick up a bit. I guess I'm glad I stuck with it, though I still find Marion infuriating

This book. Is. So. Slowwwwwwww.

Leah Rowan really, really seems to dislike women. Her main character is basically the epitome of "I'm not like other girls" and this sentence I just read pretty much confirms it for me. No spoilers here, don't worry:

".The male equivalent of a basic bitch". Apparently, women who love pumpkin-spice related items are basic bitches.

It's getting harder and harder to read this book.

The audiobook narration is pretty terrible (I actually thought that P.J. Ochlan was an AI voice at first), but alas, my library is out of physical copies, so I have to endure.

Im gonna be honest--the pacing is slowwwww. And I don't love the MC. I don't know if I'll stick with it

I know this is Mercer's first ever novel, so I'm trying to be gracious, but....the dialogue is stilted, the characters are caricatures, and the slut-shaming is off the charts.

...what is it with Matthew Mercer and his obsession with writing about naked, barely adult female characters? Seriously, it's gross.
