It was boring enough that I had to switch from hard cover to audio... and it still feels like a slice of life that just happens to span 500 years. This is just addie larue with vampires. And I didn't like addie either.

At the risk of sounding petty, I don't like this narrator. He has a news anchor cadence to his speech and has mispronounced "chasm" twice.

Maybe I've read too much and seen too many documentaries about psilocybin therapy, but I am struggling to enjoy this.

No fucking way. No way. Not a single correct choice has been made. I know THEY don't know they're in the horror genre, but damn. No one has any common sense.

I'm enjoying the story, but I don't like the narrator. It feels like the story is bouncing between breathy whispering and literal shouting. I'm frequently adjusting the volume, and I'm not loving the choppy pacing of the narration.

Bro really regretted that his wife WASN'T raped because it took away his "supreme cause" for revenge. I swear, reading is exhausting. Idk if I'm upset or just tired

The scariest part of this book so far is how this girl cooks rice.

I have about 4 conflicting theories already.

I hate the over-the-top disgruntled teenage girl trope. And the narration makes it even more grating.

This bitch is so stupid. The main character is doing everything wrong. And she's so damned unlikable overall.
The writing is getting fucking annoying too.
And the narration has committed one of my cardinal sins.
Buuuut, it's still interesting enough that I wanna know what happens.

A world with magic? Yeah, that makes sense. A world without homophobic hate crimes? Nah... that wOuLdN't Be ReAlIsTiC.

I guess i was getting to comfortable...Why do the cats have blaccents? How do people sound even more homophobic after including a page of dialogue showing they're not homophobic?

One of these days, I'll learn my lesson and stop listening to audiobooks about southern people. It's it so hard to hire a narrator with a real accent? The lilting and warbling is so over the top it's nauseating.

Tana sure knows how to write unlikable men.

So fucking annoying. Two sentences. You could avoid all that damned angsty bs with two sentences. Why don't characters just talk to each other?! (I hate the miscommunication-as-plot trope)

I feel like I'm too far into it to quit now, but this book fucking sucks.

I'm struggling. I wanted to love this, but I really don't love miscommunication/lack of communication as a primary plot device.

I thought this character was non-binary? It's been he/him the whole time. And, based on internal dialogue, the main character sees them as a man.

I guess women are either fat, interchangeable placeholders, or they're whores? After reading NOS4A2, I shouldn't be surprised.

Why did she write this MC as so stupid? Can't work a keurig? Lived in KY for 18 years and doesn't know what a backhoe is? What why does this read like poverty porn?

I genuinely hate listening to people do a KY or TN accent. Like, I'm damn near offended. Also, the slang/dialect is just off.

So tired of reading books where the characters talk about how much they love j.k.rowling.

Was expecting a cute little mental-reset book... and this book in audiobook format was the worst idea I've had in ages. if I have to hear "Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re:" and on and on... one more time, imma cry.

I've barely started and I'm already crying. I'm not ready... I have intentionally waited this long to finish the series.

Def the vibe I was hoping for. I'm still nervous though. The last few cozy mysteries I've picked up were full of misogyny and being mean to fat people. I'm very hopeful this will be a safe one. It sounds super cute.

I don't read a lot of *long* books. I was kinda worried this one would feel tedious, but i'm not bored.
