Audiobook is goated

I really need to stop picking up literary fictions 😭

I can appreciate that this book is beautiful in its writing and literary devices, but I don’t enjoy the fact that nothing is happening. Obviously that’s not the point of this book, this book is more introspective, but I don’t think it’s for me. Also there’s no quotation marks when characters speak which is very confusing.

Loving the concept and the storytelling. My only qualm so far is that you can really tell this was written by a man in the 2010’s - the characterisation of the (minimal) female characters is very limited. They’re either a soft-hearted scapegoat or a heinous bitch (who’s probably meant to seem tough). I’m enjoying it enough to put up with it and just hoping it won’t get worse.

Next read let’s go! A patient raved about this series to me today so I’m excited.
