The talking dog is annoying, what a shocker.

Why are none of the adults concerned about all of these dolls showing up? Not one person questions where Holly is getting all of these dolls? I know it's middle grade, and therefore the adults are going to useless, but please, can one of them act like an actual person for like a moment?

Again, why are none of the adults questioning where all these dolls are coming from? (I know the answer is because the plot needs to happen, but still...)

Why are the adults JUST NOW asking about where she got the doll instead of, oh I don't know, last night when she got it?

It's like all the characters are in a competition to see who can be the most insufferable.

I know it's middle grade and that I'm supposed to suspend my disbelief, but there is no way anyone is going to fall for this 12 year-old being 18. Someone ground this child immediately.

Like it's bad enough this book keeps talking about knights in BRONZE AGE GREECE, but a core tenant of the Dionysus myth--and why he's considered a god and not a demigod--is that fact that Semele bursts into flames upon seeing a fully divine Zeus, leaving Zeus to scoop up little fetus Dionysus and put him in his thigh until the full gestation.
