Two months down. Many of my favorites this month were from the lyrics themselves, but this description stuck out to me:

“The scene in your life where you remember that there are only two types of stories ever, comedies and tragedies, and the one you’ve found yourself in probably isn’t a comedy. That’s this song.” (About “The Recognition Scene”)

I wish I liked this more than I do.

1 month down. An unexpected bonus to listening and reading 1 song a day is that there is an organic book club growing in the YouTube comments of all of these songs.

I have been jotting down my favorite line from each song/essay, and this is my favorite so far, about his early writing ethos: “Set a scene and put some ghosts in it, then get excited about the ghosts.”
