Halfway through the book, I find myself awestruck, yet again, by Nora Roberts, America's finest writer.
A small-town love story was what I needed most. Sheriff Mackade, a character I find most enjoyable, gladdens me for his chivalry, uprightness and pure heart.
Cassie, although I first despised her yielding, I relished her later deprecating a patriarchal society, a toxic mother and an abusive ex-husband.
