...unreliable narrators try my patience, and I'm not sure I buy this depiction of someone (presumably) who has autism. Haven't made up my mind if I'll bother finishing this.

This book is kinda terrible, yet I can't stop reading.

content warning: lots of gruesome descriptions of killing birds. Really pretty gross and this will end up with a low rating.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, we have a several year time-skip, so this author can get to the SEXY TIMES OF WOMAN (but this woman is still a teenager, so... gross).

Nearly 100 pages in & there was the heavy-handed coming of age scene, where she gets her 1st period during her first chess tournament. Like...geez.

An old white guy wrote this, right? Sexual abuse & racism in the first chapter. Ugh

...it takes 14 light years to receive a file from Earth. They can't possibly be watching a video that is covering "decades" of information.

Huzzah for sloppy worldbuilding!

My final review is going to include words like "the whaling segments in Moby Dick were a more interesting read."

zomg So. Boring. I'll probably slog through, but that's what it's shaping up to be: a slog.

Getting close to the end, but not sure if I can stomach it. The possessive jealous alpha-hole behavior from the ghost is gross and off-putting.

Yeesh, Graham Chapman's brother is pretty homophobic.
