So, so bored.

Hell is having Alice Law for a protagonist of a 500+ page book.

Over and over we're shown Alice is in complete denial, but at some point this just gets tiring. I want her to wake up already, it's so boring!

This is more predicable than I would like. And Alice has still not moved the needle on likeability yet. I'm afraid this book won't become any more interesting than it currently is and there's still 300+ pages left...

I am not vibing with either character, but especially not Alice. I hope she has some big revelation by the end of this book or else I am not sure what Kuang is trying to say about abuse within academia.

I knew it. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it. I'm really pleased with myself for flagging that character as early as I did.
