Mark Richardson is reading Consider This: Moments in My Writing Life After Which Everything Was Different
I’ve read a lot of books on writing, and I’d include this book among the best. He gives really specific, useful advice. Provides excellent information examples. And the stories and anecdotes interspersed throughout are fun.

I really enjoyed this book. It reads like Walton spoke: energetic, enthusiastic, passionate. He had a lot of highs in life, but also suffered through a debilitating physical pain.

Mark Richardson is reading The City and Its Uncertain Walls
Not one of Murakami’s better efforts. He took one of the best things he ever published—the Town section of Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World—and made it less interesting. The book read like someone copying his style, but without the magic.

Mark Richardson is reading How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen
I really enjoyed this book. It has made me more thoughtful when I interact with other people. I definitely recognize some of the conversational pitfalls, especially being a “Topper.” It was a quick read.

Moving and well done. Made me feel a bit melancholy.

Mark Richardson is reading Five Decembers
A good read. I enjoyed being taken back to WWII and the author did a great job of capturing the language of that era.

I loved everything about this book. The writing, the structure, the different first-person narrators featured chapter-to-chapter, the story, and the mid-60s timeframe. Madelyn Schwartz sounds like such a smoking-hot little number. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was spectacular.

Mark Richardson is reading The Braindead Megaphone
I really liked the three essays on works of fiction (ie, Slaughterhouse Five, Huck Finn, and Barthleme’s “The School.”). I also liked the first essay, “The Braindead Megaphone” and “The Optimist” was funny. Some of the rest I found a bit dated.

Click link if you want to go to a tweet with a video where I read a small portion of my new novel, The Sun Casts No Shadow. Is that too much work? I gotcha. Anyway, I have to go wash my hands for the 17th time today...

My second novel, THE SUN CASTS NO SHADOW, has an official release date of June 1. But hey: you can get a copy on Amazon now!

Kirkus Reviews calls it, "A dark, stylish tale that revels in its ambiguity.” And says, “Richardson coats his short, engaging novel in a gleefully dense atmosphere.” Read more:

Loved it. I’m a huge fan of the Claire DeWitt series. All three books are great. I’d suggest you start with the first book and read them in order.
