This book continues to be more detailed than others I've read on this topic. It's an engrossing read. (And sometimes just gross, but that's the subject matter for ya.)

This is a frustrating read. Lies and cover-ups and wishful thinking and more lies.

There are really some horrifying parallels here.

It's a difficult read all right, but also interesting enough to be worth it.
Also reminds me strongly of some things that didn't make sense when I was a kid. ...now they do.

Maybe the wrong book to be starting considering current events, but I've been waiting a long time for it.

I'm slogging through this for work.
It doesn't help that I think Powell is a loathsome human being, and his autobiography has done nothing to improve that impression.
It also doesn't help that Everitt's "Augustus" is much better written.

This book is fascinating. Always a pleasure to read about a historical favorite, and this book goes into depth in some areas I hadn't previously explored.

I'm hoping there's a solid bibliography in this one...

Being really apathetic about logging things at the end of last year sure didn't help, huh :/ Guess I'll be cleaning things up a little bit before I try to log 2020's books.

This book is so well written. I'm enjoying the commentary on Dumas' letters with Napoleon, although he's not reacting terribly wisely in some of them.

I am reminded that writing a FEELINGSLETTER about your demotion is unlikely to get good results.

I have a hard time with stories where I don't care about any of the characters, and so far? Not looking good.

This reads like a piece of fun historical fiction, right up until "...and you can see it in the British Museum."
