Its like Charlotte's web without the talking animals. Enright's style certainly reminds me of E.B. White and since I don't care for talking animals much I found I much preferred the rose-colored realism and simple *feeling* of the magic of childhood summers that this book evokes.

Slow to start. Evocative... like a time capsule of 1930s England. At times gave me existential angst like a Sunday night. Some parts made me laugh and others were thought provoking. I wasn't sure I liked it but found myself sad that it was over.
