Fascinating story. Well written. I learned alot about Ireland and the tumultuous period called “The Troubles”.

My best friend and I read and reviewed this book chapter by chapter. It deepened our relationship as we discussed the meaning of soul to the Celts. Being in my sixties, I found increased connection and meaning in the chapters on friendship, solitude, and death. The writing style is choppy and we often read and reread passages to glean the authors meaning. Sometimes we never really “got it”. Mostly, we loved it.

Loved this one! The poetry, the familiar characters (with new twists), and an engaging story of murder in Three Pines did not disappoint. Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series is wonderful and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Wonderful! I’m reading the Inspector Gamache series in order and this fourth book is by far my favorite. The author finds new depth in her beloved repeat characters. The mystery itself challenges us to the end. I particularly loved the interjecting of moral philosophy and mythology and heart.

I liked it. Parts seemed to be written just for me at this time in my life. Serendipity or universal experiences? I’ll take the insights either way.

The third book in the series. I was about half way through the book before the story felt compelling. I liked the “surprises” amongst the characters from the prior two novels.

Loved it. Interesting new characters. The plot drew me in right away. Loved the “Ruth Bardo” poetry by itself and where it supported the story. And the insights into the private thoughts of Inspector Gamache and Clara Morrow kept my interest in the characters strong.

Loved it! I’m so happy to have finally started Louise Penny’s series of books. I found the setting, the characters, and the plot interesting. I look forward to reading many more Inspector Gamache mysteries.

Always enjoy the Virgil Flowers series. It seems like Sanford can take more liberties with the characters. Seemed like a different story at the end though. Did the author work himself into a spot he couldn’t get out of? I’d be more specific except I’d give pieces away and spoil the ending for current readers. I liked the book and recommend.
