End of chapter 9. I cannot wait to see how this trial affects the character of the children. I'm sure that they will learn and grow so much throughout the rest of this book.

End of chapter 5. Thoughts so far, Scout is the best narrator. I love her feisty little spirit. I am excited to get into the trial and also find out more about Boo Radley.

I haven't read this book since middle school but I do remember it being my favorite. Now about a quarter of the way through, I can already see why it was my favorite. Rich in character development, rich in wisdom from the mother, sweet glimpses of Christianity (repentance, forgiveness, confession). This book is such a jewel so far.

Fascinating so far!

Just a few chapters in but I haven't been able to stop talking about this book. It has been such a helpful resource.

Finished the chapters on Baptism and the Lord's Supper. Both very helpful chapters. Here is one of my favorite quotes from this section:
"All we must do is hunger for Jesus Christ, seek Him, look to Him, learn from Him and keep hold of Him until the great day comes when our Lord will fully manifest the glory of His kingdom, and will openly show Himself to us that we may see Him as He is."

Chapter 9 on prayer. I loved this chapter. He did an excellent job of going through each part of the Lord's prayer. It was very helpful.

Predestination and Providence of God chapter. Probably one of my favorite chapters so far. I thought Calvin did a great job of explaining this.

"Since your salvation is grounded wholly in God, why would you want to fall back upon yourself?"

Chapter on Similarities and Differences between the Old and New Testaments.

Chapter 6 Justification by Faith and the Merits of Works.

"We are justified in God's sight solely through the righteousness of Christ."

On the chapter titled Encouragement, the author writes: 'the way out is always repentance: admitting we are wrong and giving up our sinful response in humility."

Chapter 12 the kids meet Alsan. "People who have not been in Narnia sometimes think that a thing cannot be good and terrible at the same time."

Finished the chapter on Repentance. Good chapter, Calvin does a great job of walking you through the definition, the supporting Scriptures, and arguments against common misconceptions and misbeliefs about a subject.

"Can true repentance exist without faith? Not at all!"

End of chapter 7. We are seeing more of Edmund's character. He is the only one who felt horror at the mention of Aslan's name. Then, while approaching the beaver's house, everyone else notices the fire but Edmund sees two small hills, his path back to the White Witch. He continues on his path of sin.

Making progress! Just finished chapter 4 on Faith, with an Explanation of the Apostle's Creed. My favorite quote from this chapter is: "to presume on God's truth is not to be presumptuous."

End of chapter 6. It is interested to see Edmund's decline into sin. Already a sinful character but seems to heighten after he meets the White Witch.

Finished Ch 3 on The Law. This was a very helpful but short breakdown of each of the commandments.

"Evil desires are so hidden and twisted that they readily deceive man's sight." On why we need the 10 Commandments.

2nd chapter done (The Knowledge of Man and Free Will). Excellent chapter.

"Man cannot turn to God nor remain in Him except by His grace. All that man is able to do is done by grace." Page 79

Chapter 1:
"The whole sum of our wisdom-wisdom that is, which deserves to be called true and assured- broadly consists of two parts, knowledge of God and knowledge of ourselves."

Part 1 done. This version was so helpful in my kids being able to understand the story. The chapters are short. Very easy to read and understand for my 7 and 9 year old.
