Instead of a tough male investigator dealing with stock female characters (femme fatale and victim) it’s about a tough female investigator dealing with stock male characters: shouting bullies and bland nice guys.
Maybe this book worked when it came out, but in 2018 it’s reads like a self published vanity project.
