Seeing the Citizen home world, and being able to explore their politics, is fascinating.

Scarrow continues to pull no punches regarding the barbarity of Roman culture. It wasn't pretty.

Scarrow can get pretty graphic at times. So far this occurs in Chapter Nine. War and revenge are never a nice business, and it's good to be reminded of that sometimes.

The Fall of Numenor is done, but the Second Age yet continues.

I'm going through this to bone up on the Second Age, and to see what differences there are between the actual Legendarium and the "Rings of Power."

Reading the Expanse is almost like coming home. The other story I've had this feeling the most with was "Lord of the Rings." Amos has become my favorite science-fiction character.

A better start than the last book, and as always, the attention to mundane, day-to-day detail, is great.

Learning about the possible parasitic dangers in sashimi was fascinating!
