I've had to look up fewer words in some Spanish books that I've read, and Spanish is my second language. (Not a flex, just trying to put into context how much British slang is in this book)

The way that Ann Patchett nails the male voice is both very impressive (it takes talent to write outside of who you are) and very annoying (listening to a pre-teen, teen, young adult and now adult man complain is.....you know? you know.)

This book is already great (great plot, great writing, great premise) but its about to get an extra star to my final rating for winning The Hugo while being an out and out ROMANTASY. Love that love that love that.

I'm going to finish this book because I really liked her last one, but some characters in this book have super fuck-ass opinions to the point of absurdity. Which, I assume, will eventually be the point. But it is kind of hard for me to believe that people are going along with it. Idk, the protagonist *is* 19. Maybe my frontal lobe is too developed.
