Was growing concerned over the author’s attempt to appeal for for socialism by continuously ensuring the reader that although socialist states have been the ones to make historic advances for women’s rights, she does not, in fact, support state socialism (queue Jim Halpert looking at the camera). Thankfully she seems to be approaching her conclusion much more concretely so... fingers crossed

Laurie breaking down basically every time her and Jack were alone the first third of the book frankly read like an overused plot device that just felt out of place at times, but Jack turning around and weaponizing that vulnerability bc he’s grieving his halted DJ career is a little too real-world for me and I’m typically only here for the unrealistic love interests so we’ll see where this goes

Victor recounting the trial of Justine is like when someone drinks their own koolaid but instead of drinking it he’s water boarding that shit.
The insufferable self-victimization, my goodness. Mary is actually so funny for mastering the characterization of the delusional, narcissistic male ego like this
