More differences from the movie (mostly in the way things unfold and in the dialogue) though the core elements were unchanged. I think the movie did a good job of heightening the drama and humor for the screen, and making it very interesting visually. The book is good so far. We get more of the preparing for Project Hail Mary story.

Off to another great start! I really enjoy this series, especially the audiobook versions starting with the second book in the series, Everyone On This Train Is A Suspect.

The book delves much deeper into the measures taken on earth to help mitigate the effect of the astrophage, and details how the mission was planned in the first place. Plenty of good scenes the movie didn't have time for.

Ryland Grace seems to be a very chill sort of dude.

No one else writes like Ray Bradbury.

I'm on chapter 9, and I'm really enjoying the book so far. It's nerdier and the humor drier than in the movie. I can see where they worked more humor into the story with the way they filmed and interpreted it (Ryan Gosling really brought it, too). The book doesn't make you laugh as much, but it's true science fiction, and that's refreshing in its own way. It's easier to read than I expected for such a thick book!

Ever wonder where wizards in folklore and fantasy spawn from? Interdimensional tourism! Four stars for a creative and terrific tale thus far (loses one for profanity).

Really enjoying this book so far. Gives me Hitchhiker's + Monty Python vibes! I could do with the swear words, though. Four out of five stars, lol.

Fun to read from the very first page, it makes me wish I'd picked it up sooner. I hope it continues well!
