Amy is starting Gathering Prey (Lucas Davenport, #25)
It was a good book. Easy to read, no annoying characters, the plot moved right along. Not so much a who dunnit as it was a story about this crazy guy named Pilot who was kind of a Charles Manson type. There was a lot of killing and some were rather graphic but that wouldn’t deter from reading more. Lots of actio took place in the UP.

Amy is starting The Road To Paradise Island, Book Club Edition
Maps, islands, love, adventure, mystery, gold, scandal, murder. This book had it all. A girl discovers a map and a journal in a closed off room in her house. This kicks off a series off events that lead her on an adventure to search for her brother who went looking for the secret Paradise Island. Enjoyed it.

Amy is starting Chasing the Dime (Harry Bosch Universe, #12)
Enjoyed this. Good dialogue, characters weren’t too annoying, plot wasn’t too complicated. Nice little surprise at the end. It had twists and turns. Liked the idea of someone getting another person’s old phone number and the complications that can develop from it.

Too much blogging in the book for my taste. The ending was unexpected. Would have appreciated more clues to help reach the conclusion at the end. The whole book was just so so.

Didn’t get very far into it. It seemed very familiar, I think I’ve read it before.

Didn’t even start it. Opened it to about chapter 17 and read a little bit and it was too sexually graphic for my taste. Too dark.

Amy is on page 2 of 406 of Split Second (Sean King & Michelle Maxwell, #1)
Enjoyed the book but it was hard keeping track of all the different theories of who killed the presidential candidates. The dialogue was good and the chapters were short. In the end, the outcome was almost too unpredictable. I would give this author another shot.

Amy is starting Before and After
Written like it was trying to be a deep book, a classic. Very wordy. The plot hooked me from the start, boy allegedly kills girlfriend, but did he really? And then the attempted cover up. It was really a novel about how tragedy affects a family. I didn’t are for it too much.

Amy
Amy is starting Reckless Abandon (Stone Barrington, #10; Holly Barker, #4)
The dialogue was entertaining but the character development was weak. Didnt care for Holly, the FL police chief. There were too many characters involved in too many confusing conspiracy plots. The ending was lackluster. Too many government agencies.

Amy is finished with Jelly's Gold: A McKenzie Novel (Twin Cities P.I. Mac McKenzie Novels) Hardcover – May 12, 2009
Enjoyed the dialogue (playful banter that reminded me a bit of Janet), the relationships were pleasant, not too racy. The Who-dunnit was a surprise. The plot followed two different timelines as the main character tried to connect the dots to locate gangster gold. I would read more by this author.

Amy is on page 5 of 368 of The Nightmare Thief (Jo Beckett #4)
The plot had me hooked from the beginning. Spoiled rich kids go on an extreme birthday party where they get to play cops and robbers. The party gets high hacked and it all goes downhill from there. It was difficult keeping track of characters at first but got easier as the story progressed. I would read more by this author.

Amy is finished with Just One Look
Lots of twists and turns. Grace finds an old picture in some processed photos. Her husband goes missing. There is a concert stampede, memory loss, family, mobsters, hired killers, peeping toms and lots of secrets. The whole book is wrapped up in the last couple chapters. Would read more.

Amy is starting Lying With Strangers
I thought I had it all figured out, but the twist at the end got me. Peyton has a cyber stalker and real life stalker. One minute you think it’s the husband, then the mistress and then the old boyfriend. Which is it? You don’t know til the end the whole story of who is doing what.

Amy is starting Alex Cross's Trial (Alex Cross, #15)
This book kept me riveted the whole time. I even gasped and commented out loud a couple times. It was very visceral. Beyond that, I loved the short chapters, dialogue, characters and scene setting. I normally wouldn’t enjoy a historical type story involving lawyers and slavery but I loved this. Ben Corbett was betrayed by his best friend, his school boy crush, and his president and was almost hanged.

Amy is starting Guilt by Degrees (Rachel Knight, #2)
Meh. It could have been a better book. Lots of loose ends left, probably to queue up for a next book. There is a stabbing, a mysterious lady with lots of aliases who seems to have killed her man and chopped him up with an axe, and a mysterious storyline with the main character’s young sister who is dead.

Amy is starting Honeymoon
I really enjoyed this book. It was a very easy read with lots of oh my gosh moments. I loved the short chapters. I found myself rooting for the crazy serial killer lady and her relationship with the FBI dude. The ending was a bit of a let down and the twist at the end didnt really tie in well with the book. I felt like the ending was a bit confusing but I still loved reading this.

Amy is starting Winter in Paradise
Loving this book. Wish it wasn’t part of a series because now I have to read the rest. What in the world is going on with Russ and Rosie. Are they dead? Are they alive? Will Ayer’s end up with one of the brothers? So many questions!

The book flowed well and included interesting dialogue. Characters were easy to keep track of. It wasn’t a whodunnit but more of a why. There were a couple of surprises and twists that did make me question what may have really been going on. Lots of development of the parental relationship. Overall , it was a good read. I would like to read more by this author to see if I enjoy his writing as a whole.

Amy is starting P is for Peril (Kinsey Millhone, #16)
Sue was too descriptive for my taste. And the end of this book had no end. It just stopped in the middle of the story as if someone had ripped the last few chapters out of the book. Two different storylines going on and neither was resolved. Big disappointment. Why do I keep giving these books another chance?

Couldn’t finish it. It was set out west and I couldn’t get past the stereotypical dialogues and characters. Didn’t hold my attention at all. And I skipped to the end and I had picked up who the kidnapper was after he was first mentioned in the book.

Very well written. I liked the main character and the book constantly kept me asking “what is going on here?” Are they dead? Are they not dead? Does she love him if she’s still alive? Who are the bad guys? Are there aliens involved? Why does nobody know what’s going on? I look forward to reading more by the author.

Just. Ok. None of the characters were hateable, the descriptions were not overily done, nothing was really annoying. I did not like the two separate storylines going on (terrorist and then Wiccan witch mind control) that did not intersect at all. It did keep my interest at least.

Didn’t know when I started that this is the first book in a series. So there were lots of loose strings left at the end. It was enjoyable enough. The characters weren’t annoying and the plot kept me guessing. Definitely geared towards younger readers.
