Finally deigned to read the second book. I've barely started and Tamlin is INFURIATING and I hate him. Feyre annoying as per usual but I still sympathize for her.

Decided to start a new book and it's Ace Week so of course I picked up this one, super glad I finally have a (borrowed) copy to read!! Crying at the halfway mark.

The economic section rightly points out how inherently undervalued unpaid labor like caring for elderly/children and housework are by deliberate exclusion from GDP measurements. However the author focuses on programs that would help get women into the workforce rather than shifting social values to affirm the work that is already being done. Why expand childcare if you can pay existing carers?

Totally ignores trans and queer people and fluidity in its concept of sex and gender, but also does a great job of explaining how seemingly gender-neutral systems prioritize (cis, straight, white) men by default and disproportionately affect women, especially disabled, poor, and BIPOC women around the world. We have work to do to make genderneutrality actually gender inclusive and not interpreted as male by default.
