Yes, I am one of the millions of people reading Patti Smith for the first time as a direct result of the latest Taylor Swift album.

A Deadly Education (The Scholomance, #1)
I have been pronouncing this in sort of a Yiddish way, like SHOW-lo-mance, and only just now realized that it MUST be "SKAH-lo-mance," like "scholar," right? Anyway, I'm into this book.

The tagline for this book could be "It's a microbes' world; we just live in it."

Man, this narrator is kind of a dick. I feel quite certain that if he were around today, he'd be an MRA.

Hahaha, okay, wait. What??? I am very suspicious as to the sympathies in this book and where mine are supposed to lie. This plot twist kiiind of changes things.

Okay, did I actually read this before??? Part 1 was very familiar but everything in Parts 2 and 3 feels entirely new. I guess I must not have finished it.

Just started the audiobook. Technically a reread, but it's been so long and I remember next to nothing about it.

AHHHH her style. W.H. Auden was right on point when he said, "I do not know of anyone in the United States who writes better prose."

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Okay. Um. This is fascinating, but SUPER hard to read in some parts. Because of graphic descriptions of disease and how much pain Henrietta was in, this is definitely not for the faint of heart. That poor woman. :(

Listening to the audiobook with Nate. Super engrossing so far. My main question is, how the hell had I never heard of H.H. Holmes before???

A Farewell to Arms
This book is so good and so different from how I expected it. Also: "The priest was good but dull. The officers were not good but dull. The King was good but dull. The wine was bad but not dull."
