Yes, I am one of the millions of people reading Patti Smith for the first time as a direct result of the latest Taylor Swift album.

I have been pronouncing this in sort of a Yiddish way, like SHOW-lo-mance, and only just now realized that it MUST be "SKAH-lo-mance," like "scholar," right? Anyway, I'm into this book.

The tagline for this book could be "It's a microbes' world; we just live in it."

Dorianne Laux is SO GOOD.

Man, this narrator is kind of a dick. I feel quite certain that if he were around today, he'd be an MRA.

Hahaha, okay, wait. What??? I am very suspicious as to the sympathies in this book and where mine are supposed to lie. This plot twist kiiind of changes things.

Okay, did I actually read this before??? Part 1 was very familiar but everything in Parts 2 and 3 feels entirely new. I guess I must not have finished it.

Just started the audiobook. Technically a reread, but it's been so long and I remember next to nothing about it.

Okay. Um. This is fascinating, but SUPER hard to read in some parts. Because of graphic descriptions of disease and how much pain Henrietta was in, this is definitely not for the faint of heart. That poor woman. :(

Listening to the audiobook with Nate. Super engrossing so far. My main question is, how the hell had I never heard of H.H. Holmes before???

I'm like 82% done and all of a sudden this book is SUPER HEART-WRENCHING.
