Idk why I keep doing this to myself.

These fucking books, man. Every time I think, “Oh I’m actually really enjoying this now that the ick parts are done,” they immediately throw some new horrible gross thing at me. So far this one has all the same icks as the prior two, but now let’s add a whole bunch of racist shit on as the Dingleberry on top of the shit parfait. Also, Jamie is an arsehole. Convince me otherwise. I dare you.

I hate this.

I do not understand how a book with a premise that is SO 1000% up my alley can be executed in such a way as to make me be perpetually angry while reading it. Like Jesus, even SJM’s possessive controlling fae boys are less squicky to me than some of these dynamics. And yet here I am, still slogging through.

I’m sorry, but WHY are we presenting a husband telling his wife he’s barely able to restrain himself from raping her (like uses the word rape and everything) and mentions of a past beating he gave her as coy, cute flirting? As fun, witty, romantic banter despite the fact that it’s brought up to attempt to control what she’s wearing/doing? Why? Why are we doing this?

Am I rereading this? Yes. First actual reread in yearssssssss but it was so good.
