In spite of the poor reviews I've seen, I'm rather enjoying the read. True, Modesitt suffers from over detailing ...but all his books are like that. You learn to accept the style to get to the 'meat' of the tale, as with Anne Rice. The setting is decent, characters likable, and the tale engaging. Can't wait to see what happens next!
