C. Forrest Gard is on page 101 of 176 of Living Life Backward: How Ecclesiastes Teaches Us to Live in Light of the End
There is some densely packed commentary on Ecclesiastes in here that, I think, can have a profound impact on the way you live your life if taken to heart. Gibson has done well.

Good, not great, but also relatable in terms of how Walser views life through the eyes of his characters, namely Simon. Better to wander through this place rather than take any of it too seriously.

Reminds me a bit of Hamsun's "Hunger" but with less Dostoevsky-like delirium and more of a measured, wandering prose. Enjoyable.

I've been in too much of a snooty echo chamber on Goodreads where everyone seems to think we need to be very professional on this website that clearly hasn't been updated since 2003. I came across someone today who's quite funny and now I feel better about not pretending to be like everyone else.

I like Walser. The opening of this book has been hilarious and relatable.

Fully embracing my son and I's birdwatching enthusiasm. Life will be centered on filling bird feeders and sitting in lawn chairs with my binoculars alongside my son. This is the way.

What a mind and heart for the things of God Chambers had from such a young age.

I can already tell you Walser is fantastic and severely under-appreciated. Glad I chose him for my periodic retreat into fiction.

There is an aesthetic vision of sheer primacy. A man in the rain reading Kierkegaard's "Sickness Unto Death" while listening to an amalgamation of ambient classical crossover and atmospheric black metal, realizing that his only true self rests in Jesus Christ, the perfect union of all things good and beautiful, aesthetic and ethical.

SK will either leave you galvanized toward running further into God and from the world, or he will leave you in despondency over the idea that you might not be a follower of Jesus.

The way SK writes about faith is so unique yet so powerfully true that I cannot help but be fascinated by the mind of this man.

Man's advantage over the animals of speech is only an advantage if he learns to keep silent. Keep silent, and do not add to your suffering nor make it more than it is.

C. Forrest Gard is on page 120 of 192 of An Introduction to John Owen: A Christian Vision for Every Stage of Life
This has been a really insightful overview of the life of John Owen. Specifically, I have been blessed to find that he viewed the whole purpose and end of education to be the detangling of the soul so that one could live before God and in communion with Him.

Quite excited to read Bruce Kirmmse's newer translations of some of Kierkegaard's works. I would become aware of these as I'm in the midst of needing to read several other books for upcoming conferences this summer. SK always takes priority, though.

Rarely, if ever, do I come across anyone who pulls as much from scripture as Pink was able to. The man was heavily illumined by God. Thoroughly anticipate meeting him in eternity.
