Finished the novella “The Country of the Pointed Firs” by Sarah Orne Jewett. It was a lovely and heartfelt story of vignettes and adventures that capture the simple pleasures and intricate details of life in a small seafaring town in late 19th century Maine. Her writing betrays a deep affection for the land and the people.

I'm seriously reading this guide book by the inestimable Joy Williams. No one writes like her, period. Loving it already!

Filled with tons of small precious gems of knowledge

Kind of slow going. Lots of exposition. I hope it picks up!
