John Waters is a national treasure! Amazing imagination litters the work beautifully, complemented by real rides detailing how can we can be to one another.

A. Boutte is reading Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America
Disorganized, poorly researched narrative fails to fully explore the complex methods used by companies, medical communities and governments to overprescribe a dangerous compound. The focus on an opportunitistic drug dealer (who had no other financial prospects due to racism) and the author's inclusion of her own perspective are problematic, but would be useful as separate books or articles.

A. Boutte is reading The Devil in the White City
The chapters about the fair and architects, we're a bit long winded; the two story lines did not intersect very smoothly.

Incoherent at times. A single point of view would have been helpful

A. Boutte is reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
Myopic and privileged pov, in the style of Tyler Durden speeches. A memoir from the author would be interesting.

Disappointing! The author has moments of clarity and there are some beautiful passages. However, the text if often incoherent. The book is now in the hands of a new reader.
