I figured out why I’m not a fan of Scarlett thus the book as much. It’s because she is so self critical, lacking self compassion, anxiety riddled & has low self esteem. I like women main characters to be empowered and strong, not to say they can’t have moments of weakness but my goodness Scarlett is 80% negative & 20% positive. It’s kind of annoying

I’m starting to think that Ali writes characters that aren’t for me. If I remember correctly, and quite frankly I barely remember at all, I think I also disliked Olive from The Love Hypothesis. I went to look back at that review but I couldn’t find anything on it. I’m liking the steaminess so far but thats about it because the characters… meh, sometimes I like them most of the time I find them annoying

I think I’m just now getting into this book. I haven’t really been feeling the characters if I’m being honest. I will say- I love the Easter egg of Dr Carlsen & Dr Olive Smith being Scarlett’s professor, love love love! (from The Love Hypothesis book by this same author)

What an emotionally conflicting book!! I’m curious to see how this one is going to end becauseeee idk idk idk

I’m so annoyed but this book 🙄 the fact that they both “don’t know” why they feel the way they feel towards each other is annoying. You both obviously like each other, obviously are a better match for one another, and are obviously not honest with yourselves and it’s taken 3/4 of the book for you both to “realize” it 🙃 I also feel bad for Mike though, just a little bit not too much haha

How am I already this deep in the book? Such an easy read! I’m loving the characters and being immersed within the friend group again. Although, I will say, I’m not loving the premise- liking my best friend’s girlfriend, especially after the way he feels about her... which also makes no sense considering he knows nothing about her or shows consideration the way el otro does

Yup, this is more my speed, I’m 2 chapters in and I’m already hooked. I’m a sucker for the men Abby Jimenez portrays in her books, I’ll admit it 😛

I like the life lessons thrown in here. There is a beauty in life just doing what it does, the curveballs. I really like seeing how people change and evolve, and the implications that has on interpersonal dynamics. It’s messy in a realistic way and I can appreciate it. Definitely not something I was able to really get into until about 70% of the way through but I’m liking it more now

I don’t hate the book, it’s just not for me. I’m not emotionally connected to any of these characters and idk the lack of plot seems intentional so I get it but I don’t like it. I’ll finish it though only because I’m nosy and want to know where the characters are going to end up

This book is a little boring and sad. I think I like romance novels because of the whimsical vibes and the less seriousness of it all. For work I deal with so many life situations and seriousness that I seek that whimsical fun in stories as an escape. Not a bad read so far, I am curious as to where the plot is headed but meh

Started this book today solely based off the cover and title, hoping for some semblance of relatability but we started off STRONG in chapter 1 and I’m currently in chapter 3 so we’ll see. Oh and strong as in heavy, not in a positive sense but I’m giving it a try so let’s see 😅

I’m so glad I picked this one up, it’s so good. At first I felt a little confused with the multi-POV, and the way the book it written but now I love it because it builds up more anticipation and connects the pieces of the puzzle from different corners and it is so exciting, it makes the reading more fun.

I am seriously loving this book. Abby Jimenez is, I can confidently, officially one of my auto-buy authors because every book I read of hers I just love so much. The characters, story line, plot twists, dialogue, all of the above.

I’m DNF this one. I was just not as into it as I wanted to be, forcing myself to get through it for the sake of getting through it but honestly I’m so over it. I’m hoping my next read I’ll actually be into

My heart is so happy being back in the world of these characters. Why did no one tell me that this book existed?! I absolutely loved the first one, The House in the Cerulean Sea, and now being thrown back into the second is everything I didn’t know I needed 🥲

I won’t lie Ava was really irritating me for some time there but she’s grown on me and the empathy is really seeping in now. Her journey of self compassion, empowerment, and standing up for herself is nice to see

Reading this for a book club and I’m loving it so far. The chapters are short & usually leave on a cliffhanger so I can’t help but to keep reading lol but I’m not mad at it. It’s easy to read, creepy, and entertaining so I can see why this one was popular on booktok!

I’m loving this book so far

I’m curious to see where this book goes now because there seems to have been a whole story that already happened- beginning, middle, and end. I have a feeling it’s going to be “love triangle” related so we shall see

Honestly it feels like I have been reading this book for ages so it’s been long, but reading about Viola’s life has been so interesting- a range of emotions has been felt. I, as per usual, didn’t read the synopsis so I thought it would more of a motivational nonfiction not an autobiographical nonfiction BUT I’m still enjoying it

Fun and whimsical kinda book. Kind of slow paced but not mad at it, looking forward to more development in the romance department 😜
