Quitting after wasting time reading 200 pages of this trash. There isn’t a single redeeming quality to this waste of paper. Basically take Brett Easton Ellis, give him a lobotomy the ship him off to England circa the end of the pandemic and tell him to vomit up some tired copy, and you end up with 600 pages of garbage. I’ll be taking a wide berth from O’Hagan, master of cliche, boredom and awfully drawn characters.

Bottom line, I just don’t have enough time left in my life for this boring tripe. In a word - garbage. DNF.

DNF. While the description of this title sounded fascinating the book turned out to be a huge disappointment. He's trying to combine about 4 books into one which really have nothing to do with each other. Don't waste your time.

DNF. Way too slow.

This is a bold statement but so far this maybe my favorite non fiction book I've ever read. It's between this and Dispatches. Let's see if it holds up till the end.

Why can't I put down a book that is taxing my mind, irritating me intensely with it's ridiculous sub-plots and general pretentiousness? This guy is a poor man's Michael Chabon at best, in fact make that a homeless man's Chabon. Fuck you Jonathan, I mean it, really.

Absolutely fucking excellent, finished it then went straight back to the beginning and red it again.

Based on certain reviews I thought that this was going to be as tough as Ayn Rand. So far it's excellent and I have no idea why people find it so challenging.

Taking a pause- bigger fish to fry

Fantastic biography of Sarah Vaughn. I'm in the middle of listening everything she ever recorded as a result of this book.

Not an easy read, dry as the sahara at times but Mukherjee is a genius. Get audible to alternate with print- worth the effort.

Great premise, but really should have been a magazine think piece. The book lacks stamina.

Interesting life made incredibly boring. The exception I'll grant is despite this you will be very knowledgeable in 20th century outsider music if you can bring yourself to finish it.

The emperors new clothes- really ready to throw it across the room but already invested a lot of time- Anyone else read/ reading this?
