Hearing "the lightening girl" makes me want to scream. I hate Mare. She's selfish and doesn't care about anyone else, having accepted she's the oh so special chosen one. She's given herself this title of "the lightening girl" and has embraced it despite it being terrible and removes her humanity, reducing her to nothing but a power which makes her no better than the Silvers she's trying to escape

This still manages to feel like a much worse Red Rising. Much worse because Mare is awful. It's not the bad decisions, but she "knows" she's important and decides that she's "worth more" than a bunch of dead reds. Which is...a choice.

Moving to dnf for now. Possible I'll pick it back up later but right now it is not keeping me engaged.

Our two main characters still haven't met each other. Not loving this. It also feels info-dumpy when there were so many opportunities to naturally feed readers the information. I'm also not quite sure what thr plot is which I feel like i should know or have some idea of this far in.

DNF. This reads like a hentai fantasy and I just can't.

What are the stakes? What is the plot? What is the inciting incident? This is just an atmospheric mess.

I fucking hate Sebien.

This book has some real promise, and it's not that I don't like it. There's just a lot of double information and info-dumps as Hannah dreams these discoveries, then has to go back and decipher/remember what we (the reader) have already learned. It's making the story feel slow and a little bloated.

Really enjoying this so far. I thought I would have issue with the whole streaming thing, but it's actually really well done, and I'm really enjoying the supernatural mystery elements.

Maybe if you don't want people to think you murdered your missing wife you should stop sounding so much like you murdered your wife.

Literally both of these people are insufferable. Now I remember why I dnf'd it before.
