I am not into this at all so far, but it's got really good reviews so I will keep at it for a little bit longer.

Reading is reminding me of the bullshit gobbledygook from film school/grad school (derogatory).

This is giving me Mothman vibes.

Looking forward to the horror that must surely show up at some point in this horror novel.

Ryland saying "heck" and "jeez" and "gosh darn" make me feel very seen.

Working on the audiobook for this, not my usual kind of read. I'm finding myself enjoying it but am starting to get anxious about it sticking the landing.

I get a little frustrated with books that have characters knowing things but just not sharing it with the reader - to save for a twist or reveal later. By far one of my least favorite devices.

The Running Man: Having not read it in quite some time, I was most taken with how RELEVANT this feels today. Elon Musk WISHES he were head of the Games.

Roadwork: Okay. Not the best. By anyone else it would have been pretty good but you just expect more from SKing. I think if he'd written it a few years later on, there would have been some kind of twist, some amplification, something to turn it up a notch.

The Long Walk is sooooooooo good. Though this time the last few pages felt really rushed to me. I get making the ending feel abrupt, but I found myself thinking, wait, I've missed something.

It's so interesting how you can continue to get something new out of different reads, though. I'd never got the alt-history aspect before.

Jade's relationship with Mr. Holmes is EVERYTHING.

I hadn't read "Rage" in probably twenty years. I can see why King wanted it out of print. The psychology of Charlie is so different from most school shooters, so at first it doesn't really feel like it should inspire copycats, but the way the other students end up on his side is pretty icky. The ending with Ted is bizarre, honestly. But SK's writing is just so good, I read the whole novella in like one sitting.

I do not understand the pedagogical choices in this textbook. If this were the very first Latin book I'd ever cracked open, I would be completely lost.

Gosh, this has been a slog so far. I am not vibing with this book at all.

Fabulous start so far. I really love the protag already.

I really missed some character development at the beginning of this. What were these people like before they moved into the house and weird shit started happening? What are their relationships to each other (other than just husband/wife and parents/child)?

His scent hit her next. He always used the same kind of soap, which lingered on his flesh, but it was different these days. That masculine scent was there, but it seemed to intermingle with the sweet Hawaiian air.

Sometimes just seeing the word "demon" on the page gives me a little spookum. The word itself looks evil frfr.

"Earth" has been the best story so far imo.

Why do people always sniff each other in romances? "Oh, I caught a whiff of her smell, her smell that was hers alone, expensive teak and endangered whale tears."
