The cringe factor is strong but like a train wreck you can’t look away from. Not sure if some stuff is intentional or bad writing. Also what is up with the names?!? Haha

OK ... WTF?

I’m at 11%, and I’m fine with what looks like insta-love ... there’s also forced proximity, a large man repeatedly cornering a woman, that man refusing repeatedly to call her by her actual name, forcibly touching her over & over again, taking her items & taunting her & gaslighting her.

What's next? Cozy r*pe?

I thought this was cozy yet even this early I actively hate everything about this book.

I am enjoying this … BUT it simultaneously feels too wrapped around its place in the other two books of the series. And long … how can I possibly still have more than a third of the book to go!

What an absolute joy this has been … so glad we grabbed it in a shop in Nova Scotia while vacationing there last year! (Author is local).

I love how explicitly this book is tying together the worlds of all three books in a series of callbacks!

As expected this is a delight so far!

Took me a bit to get going but there is A LOT going on!

I am intrigued but really don't like anything I've read so far ... or appreciate it if turned into commentary. i know I'll end up finishing it and hopefully by then I will 'get it'.

I’m only halfway through but am pretty certain that this will be my favorite Rebecca Thorne book yet! And MOSS as a character? Wonderful!

I know this is weird to be asking myself at 75% … but do I actually LIKE the characters or the story? I know what is coming and so while there have been a building pile of details, I have never felt really compelled to keep going the way I am with many books. My biggest incentive now is my library borrow is done in two days!

Difficult reading at times - but I have always adored her so loving this memoir.

As a bass player with a wall of instruments this seemed like an easy selection when it was on a big sale - and overall it is pretty good, but I either find it VERY interesting or very UNinteresting with no in-between!

When this went on super-deep Kindle sale I couldn't pass it up! Biggest surprise was that Geddy hadn't been collecting basses forever, which didn't really seem to come up in his memoir - unlike Who bassist John Entwistle who was always a collector.

Very interesting so far - she has absolutely undergone so many challenges beyond the public health issues. However, the timeline is SUPER wonky at times to the point where I am not sure it all makes sense as she relies on her journals for a lot but then the parallels to 'real life' seem to not work well. Not the point, but the type of thing that bothers me.

I love this world the author has created and all of the characters … but 25% in this just hasn’t hooked me … it is ‘fine’, but I am actively reading two other books and picking THEM up more than this.

This book is going to destroy any progress I'd made towards being better about DNF'ing more! (cough The Life Impossible!) Starting out it was cliche piled on trope strung together with rehashed plot points...but in the second half it has become more interesting and a lot of the groundwork from the early part has been paying off. Still not sure where I will land for a score but I no longer regret continuing to read!

In this book there is mention of infinites and how infinities can come in different sizes and how there can be infinity infinities.

I think infinity infinities describes how long this book is - I’m not even halfway done and feel like I have always been reading it and will always be reading it and it will never end.

I am really enjoying this ... but I got hung up on one evening where there was a meeting 'when it got dark' but she left work after 6:30 and the amount of time she allocates to do things between then and the meeting is just WILD. In general the timing of things in these books (this in particular) never make much sense but this was so bad I got hung up on it. Ugh

Really enjoying this so far but Libby holds keep getting released and get in the way! Haha

Really captivating and enjoyable so far!

This is absolutely well written but I am often not sure what I think - and it feels intentional on the part of the author. I am conflicted about the main character - but that makes sense as she is portrayed as a real young woman and not one-dimensional.

Rough start with this one where I felt I was pushing myself to continue and almost set it aside. Definitely gotten better and feeling more engaged, but still on target to be my least favorite of anything Baldree has done the last 20 years.

I’d heard good things about this, but I am struggling to really connect. The core is about a reality show that sounds a lot like typical ‘groups of men and women’ shows - and I have never seen even a single episode of those. Mix in a bit of hunger games, mostly vapid people who simultaneously feel they’re above it all but also jump right into - it is OK, I guess.

Is this book built on an entire foundation of tropes? Yes it is. Am I enjoying it anyway? Absolutely. Only real question is whether we get subjected to a third-act breakup or if we slow born until a satisfying end.

Just read “what are you reading?” … “it is a story about a Queen’s Guard and a powerful mage who set up a tea shop on the outskirts of the empire” … LOVE these meta moments!

Loving the characters and progression so far - but being honest this is the least favorite of these books for me so far. I need some things to be resolved and for it to happen in THIS book while simultaneously wrapping up a murder mystery in a satisfying way. A lot to ask in 25% of a cozy book.

One thing I am stuck on is the 'omniscient narrator', who has a few times already said something like "she/they thought Y but would later learn X"

Wren Jones has become one of my favorite and most reliable cozy authors, Her warmth and humanity permeates everything she writes.
