It’s fun, but I feel like I’ve picked up book 2 of a series and I’ve missed out on a lot of exposition and explanation.

Alright, let’s see what all the fuss is about.

It’s been a long time since I’ve considered dnf’ing a book that came THIS highly recommended, but … this book makes me uncomfortable. In multiple ways, and none of them are good

Don’t get me wrong, I’m greatly enjoying this, but why is Rebecca Ross so obsessed with having her characters getting married to each other?

I really went into this re-read thinking: “the handling of sleeping pills in this book cannot be AS bad as I remember it.”

It’s actually worse. I’m feeling almost physically sick.

(3 months clean at this point, btw. Never again will I take a sleeping pill.)

loved the first two, but this book just showed me literal DIAGRAMS to explain something about the magic system. please … no …

alright, it’s time for some comfortable favorites

About 75% done and it‘s the first mention of Sally Ride, first American woman in space, first lgbt woman in space, in a book about lgbt women in space.

First non-white person mentioned after about 50% of the book, and it‘s not even by name.

I have criticized TJR for copying too much from real events before.

Now she‘s not talking about tennis. Now she‘s talking about NASA.

NASA, and specifically the Challenger explosion (due to an early childhood obsession with Judy Resnik, still my personal hero) were my special interest when I was a little, undiagnosed autistic girl.

Bring it on, TJR.

why does Blythe keep referring to her own father as „Elijah“

Literally what is the point of this book. If they already know who Life is, why not just tell them? Is it truly a miscommunication trope if the knowledge is there and there is just a refusal to literally SPEAK ONE SENTENCE AND RESOLVE THIS ENTIRE PLOT

Two thoughts:

1. I love fantasy politics. So. MUCH.

2. Pink-Pink the chameleon? An absolute ICON.

These are some of the most obnoxious main characters I have seen in a while

Goodreads, stop recommending N*il G*Iman books to me. Remove his quotes from the app loading screen. Do not show me his books as “popular right now in fantasy.” Erase him.

If you HAVE to have this many POVs, why does every single one have to be first person?

The German parts need to be looked at again. I know English-speaking countries are stumped at the existence of ß and ä/ö/ü, but the correct spelling is just a google search and quick copy/paste away

I really and truly appreciate the way grief has been written during this big character development moment/revelation. It’s hard to read, but that is what makes it so precious. Often, it feels like characters in stories get over earth-shattering revelations in the turn of a page, but not here. And I like that very much.
