This book amazed me with its seemingly accurate language and choice of words I of course was not alive during that time, so I can't confirm that! I must admit that I started skimming the end a little bit because I had to return it to the library, but that didn't hurt my comprehension of how the author brought everything together at the end-worth the wait to finish over 700 pp. McMurtry also wrote Brokeback Mtn.

Hard to describe this book. I wanted to stop reading it at times but at the same time needed to finish it. Timely in a way. Weird in one way. And yes satisfying in yet another way. G

This is a must-read! Caste is affecting our nation's health as well as those at the lower levels. So well explained, with many personal experiences.

I'm as finished as I'm going to be, 650+ pages & skimmed the rest because I was tired of reading about all the crime. I loved the first 3 sections but then got bored.
