There’s one Black woman in the Sensible Shoes Sacred Journey group:
Charissa...the intellectual blinded by perfection
Hannah...the pastor fatigued from serving
Meg...the caregiver seeking her identity
And Mara...the fat, ignorant, foul mouthed sex addict who had an abortion

I was really enjoying this book until this sentence:
“If Y2K is as bad as they say it’s going to be, we’re going to need every K-9 unit we can get. Be like Rodney King all over again.”

As if hate, racism and police brutality exist because of a ‘type of dog’...give me a freaking break! This sentence illustrates racial profiling and premeditated violence. WTF???
