I hate when authors make the readers get inside a male character's head because then you have entire paragraphs of men describing inappropriate (borderline harassment) acts towards women. It's almost a punishment.

This blend of genres (thriller + space opera) is so complex, if you blink, you lose 50% of the plot. This is a debut. Some people are just built differently.

Waiting for this book to give me a major plot twist that I'll not see coming from a mile away...

I don't know how to say this nicely but sometimes when a man talks about other men it becomes so boring that you engage in dissociative behavior as a form of escapism. This book could've been a lot better if we followed some women's perspective, I don't know. A bunch of greedy men playing God? I could be watching TV instead if I wanted such content :/

I read quite fast, I must confess, but I read even faster when the book is objectively good. Let's call it devouring pages. I've heard excellent things about this book and I'm happy to report that it is, in fact, very good. Definitely not one of those you have to read at least the first 3 books in the series to deem it worth your time. Confident that it'll be a solid 4 star

I'll be very interested in reading reviews once I finish reading because I have a feeling that this book is actually quite good but I'm not the target audience. It be like that sometimes.

Claire North's prose was really developing here to become the powerhouse that it is today, albeit, all the ingredients were already here. I love consistency.

I'm LOVING this! the kind of gothic that is right up my alley

You know, growing up in a religious household and not being very religious yourself, always makes you develop what is often referred to as religious trauma, Which I have and perhaps this book will be quite triggering but not only it is important to have books like this one but also, we should challenge ourselves to overcome our aversions.

Not good GOOD but not bad BAD. meh.
