Outstanding! As a former ships crewman although in the early '70s, the accuracy here seems spot on. From what I know of the different kinds of officers from experience and study the kinds and types of officers presented here are also accurate. Starts out a little slow but soon picks up ahead of steam and action just doesn't stop. Same with the scene set in the North Atlantic. I get cold just from reading it.

First of all paging here includes both inside and outside of the covers and every single page in the book. Best as I can tell, whoever put this book together, just copied and pasted with no proofreading or editing. There are a strange page breaks, punctuation and titles. IMHO the editor was right to leave the title story out of the main book of Dracula. So far the stories are average at best.

Excellent book by Jo Nesbo! This may be the best I've read of his yet. And the best book I've read in a while. Excellent characters, sense of place and plotting. Realistic dialogue, Touch of humor and faultless continuity. Puts me in that strange place where I'm greedily gobbling up each page at the same time I don't want it to end but I need it to end.

Just starting to get to the good stuff. An absolute pleasure to read. What a shame this is the end of it. I've read many if not most. At least I have a few to look forward to.

I had forgotten about this case when it was in the news. The book had transitioned from the events that happened, the war crimes, to how the Navy and the UCMJ would handle it. It started to get really good and then of course Trump steps in. The good guys get screwed and the bad guys get away with murder. Literally. And corrupt the whole system.

At the point now where the war crimes have been established and the collusions with the officers and the system have taken place. Now we're getting the story of the naval criminal investigative service officer who just was given the case. It's mind-blowing. And it's been compared with the Mai Lai Massacre.

This book is so crazy intense and disgusting I can only read it some pages at a time. The main character Eddie Gallagher just got done murdering an emaciated boy ISIS pow. Gloating over it. And casually saying how he'll do it again.

On page page 202 I read something that allowed me to compare the story with what happened because of the pandemic. Miss handling of the pandemic with misinformation from journalist and politicians. From the book: " the case was about other kinds of evil as well. Some of the top investigators... in the case, charged with a sacred responsibility of finding the truth, appeared to be more interested in using the case to

The first part of the book deals with the crimes committed and written about by the famous Italian journalist Mario Spezi. Most of the people involved in the investigations bungled it from the beginning until where I'm at right now. At this point, the American writer Douglas Preston known for his great fiction is living in the area with his family and taking an interest.

Pretty good so far. Takes a little bit at first to set the scene, introduce the characters and get the ball rolling. The story is realistic with small doses of humor and some good intrigue. There's also a couple of subplots that are going on that have is yet to be tied to the main line. Looking forward to the rest of it.

Whoa! This is a crazy ass book. What is it like to die? What is reality? Also a hell of a thriller. I can hardly imagine what the rest is going to be like. A lot of fun so far though. Great characters and although I know very little about the subject it seems like the author has done some fairly thorough research on what's happening in the book. If an incredibly wealthy person were 2 invest in this kind of research h

Jeffrey is on page 219 of 376 of Is Paris Burning?
On page 195 I saw something that is appropriate for these times. It tells of the 2nd French Armored Division under Dwight Eisenhower. It consisted of many immigrant Arabs who could barely speak French, Africans from the jungles of Cameroon, Tauregs from Sahara, Spanish Veterans of the loyalist armies, Lebanese, Chileans, Mexicans who had kept Faith with France. While the immigrants who fight for the USA get booted.

At this point the author is comparing torture during the Spanish Inquisition and torture today. An interesting "perspective: the Bush administration's threshold for when an act of torture BEGINS is the point at which the Inquisition stipulated that an act of torture must STOP."
