I generally don't like whodunits, and it took me 200 pages to realize this is probably one. I was just so happy to find SF (especially in the middle of a series) that wasn't tediously explaining its universe that I suspended my usual intolerance for mystery AND SF. So far this is a novel i don't hate that's in two genres that I, er, have no fondness for. Hope the rest continues the trend!

And now 2/3 through the book and the story changes completely, departing from the jacket copy. I'm hooked. What's to come?

A third through the book and it still doesn't resemble either the jacket copy or the back cover quote. Could it be that the marketing department actually READ the book before summarizing?

Not at all what I was looking for. I wanted alternate history of history that I already know. I thought this was vabout the black plague in England. It is not.

Questionable scholarship. Age of main character is wrong. Name of another accused is wrong. Entertaining though.
